The VTXC Marathon Team is an elite level nordic race team based out of the Trapp Family Lodge.
VTXC athletes have achieved many marathon podiums during the team’s first few years. Team members coach training programs in the Stowe area through Stowe Nordic and work as ski instructors in the Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center Ski School. Team members endorse the Trapp Family Lodge on the New England, national and international racing circuits and through local coaching programs and volunteer days around New England.
The VTXC Race Team’s goal is to assist elite level racers in their ski racing development and offer coaching programs through which VTXC Race Team members can share their in-depth knowledge of nordic skiing and all its components. The Trapp Family Lodge’s location at the center of nordic excellence and community in Vermont makes it the perfect home for the VTXC Race Team and its programs. The exceptional nordic racing and training facilities including its homologated race loop, snowmaking and commitment to providing the most consistent and best skiing in the east makes the Trapp Family Lodge an obvious destination for nordic racing and training excellence.
The VTXC Race Team consists of five male and five female athletes. The VTXC race schedule focuses on the New England Marathon series. Trapp Family Lodge provides financial support to help athletes cover some of the costs involved in nordic racing including entry fees, wax, transportation and lodging at races. Andrew Gelinas of SWIX and Atomic provides equipment and race waxing support for the VTXC Race Team and its affiliates and ski grind support is provided by Edgewise in Stowe. Pinnacle Physical Therapy in Stowe provides team members with injury prevention and rehabilitation as well as fitness testing and training for administering fitness tests as coaches.
VTXC training programs coached by members of the Race Team are offered through Stowe Nordic SNOC. VTXC’s mission for these programs is: To provide professional level coaching to motivated athletes of all ages during the summer, fall and winter training and racing seasons. To provide inspired ideas, energy and enthusiasm in a fun, festive group setting. To build relationships between local area skiers in order to enhance the Stowe Nordic ski community and to help individuals achieve their racing and fitness goals.
