Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides - (10am to 12pm & 1pm to 4pm)

Large Group Sleigh - No Reservation Required: First Come, First Served Basis. Departs every half-hour and cost is $20 per adult (13+)/ $14 per child (4-12)/ children 3 years and under are free with an adult. Last ride leaves at 3:30 PM. Call the Sleigh Ride Hotline 253-5895 for ride updates. All rides meet across from Outdoor Center. Payments should be made to the driver: cash, credit card or room charge.
Daily Snowshoe: Maple Tour
Get a taste of Vermont on our Maple Sugar snowtour. Spend some time in our sugarbush learning about the trees and process of gathering before visiting our sugahouse where all the magic happens. $30 covers our guide, snowshoes and poles. Please dress appropriately for the temperatures! Please register at the Outdoor Centr early to get geared up (x5755). This tour will run as a hike for a discount price if there is no snow!

Introduction to Digital Photography
This is a basic introduction to the use of digital cameras and picture taking. Most everyone has a digital camera, but do you know how to use all the functions? Do you know how to take a good photo with a basic camera? Peter Yoskin will help familiarize you with digital cameras and give some tips on how to improve the photos you take. Peter will use a slide show to shed some light on the subject, so you can just listen and take notes or you can bring your own camera with you. The class meets in St. Georges Hall in the Main Lodge. Please sign up and make payment at the Fitness Center (x5722). Cost is $25 and there is a 3 person minimum required to run the class.
Adult Art-Introduction to Acrylic Painting
with local artist Nancy Schade. Learn the wonders of acrylic painting for your creative future! Please sign up at the Reception Desk of the Fitness Center (x5722). 15-hour advance sign up is needed for this class to take place. Cost: $45.
Singing For Joy
Love to sing but others wish you wouldn't? This class will teach you relaxation techniques to free and open the voice. Learn how posture and support help you find the voice inside. We'll practice with rounds and canons and learn to listen. Please sign up in advance at the fitness center (x5722). Age recommendation: teens and adults. Location: St. Georges Hall. Cost: $30 per person.
Adult Intro to Watercolor Painting
Let the beautiful scenery surrounding the Trapp Family Lodge inspire you to capture them through watercolors. Explore the fun and excitement of watercolors with local artist Michelle E. Jackson. Come paint and try many watercolor techniques. All levels are welcome. All materials are supplied. Cost: $50 per student. Please sign up by 8:00pm the night before the class. Minimum of 3 students is needed to run the class.
Slayton Pasture Cabin Guided Snowshoe Tour
Enjoy a snowshoe trek up to the cabin. This is a challenging 6-mile hike roundtrip. Please be prepared with winter boots, water bottle and clothing that's appropriate for the weather (wool socks!) $79 for Guests, $99 for day visitors. Guide, snowshoes and lunch are included. Please sign up in advance at the Outdoor Center (x5755) If there is no snow, this tour will be offered as a hike. Snowshoe cost will be discounted from price.
Daily Snowshoe: Meet the Cows
Join Chris Pocher on a trek to meet our Scottish Highlander Cows that call Trapp's home. Learn about these interesting bovines and hoe they fit into the cycle of life here in Vermont. Bring your camera there cows are very photogenic. $30 covers our guide, snowshoes and poles. Please dress appropriately for the temperatures! Please register at the Outdoor Centr early to get geared up (x5755). This tour will run as a hike for a discount price if there is no snow!
Basket Making Workshop
From tree to basket: join Vermont artisan Andy Paonessa to learn about the ancient art of ash splint basketry. All materials are gathered from the rich swamps of the Northeast Kingdom. The tree is then processed the traditional way by pounding the log to remove splints for weaving. All materials are provided and everyone will go home with a 6-8 inch basket. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill and take home a piece of Vermont that will last for many years! Cost is $55. Please sign up in advance at the Fitness Center (x5711). There is a two person minimum to run this workshop! Meeting place is the Greenhouse unless otherwise specified.
