Holiday Engagements Turn to Wedding Planning
If you’re like many couples, you may be starting off 2014 newly engaged. November and December are months when a significant number of couples find themselves in betrothed bliss thanks to the question being popped around the holidays. In fact, wedding and bridal magazines generally estimate that 25 - 35% of engagements begin during the holiday season. So, if you happen to find yourself in this situation, congrats! Now what?
According to Trapp Family Lodge Wedding Coordinator, Jessica Couture, one of the first steps for a recently engaged couple is to have a conversation about the season in which to be married and potential venues to host the event. By keeping dates flexible at first, a couple can scope out a variety of locations to suit their needs. It’s wise to schedule a time to tour the sites you’re interested in; that way you’re able to get a general feel for the place and have your questions answered.
While it may seem early for the “just engaged” to start planning their big day, Couture indicates that it’s common for couples to spend between 14 - 16 months sorting out all the pertinent details. “That’s one of the things that I love the most about working with couples—after all that planning and organizing, I’m able to see a successful, memorable ceremony that brings them into the next phase of their lives.”
