Meet the crew at the Outdoor Center/Bike Shop.
Dana Jourdan
Hello, my name is Dana Jourdan. I found my love for mechanics at age eleven when I spent the summer helping work on airplanes at the Morrisville/Stowe Airport. By age fifteen I obtained a solo license for glider flight. The next summer I became a bicycle mechanic at Chuck’s Bikes in Morrisville, VT. Chuck Schultz, the owner, friend and my mentor worked here at Trapps during the ski season. After graduation, Chuck got me a job working at the rental shop where I learned how to ski and later instruct cross-country skiing and groom trails. Chuck’s larger than life energy lives on although he passed in 2006.
At age twenty, my good friend Hardy Avery and I opened Irie Cycles in Waterbury, VT. Irie Cycles started as a small repair-only shop and grew into a high-end boutique Mountain Bike Shop in Stowe, VT. We played a large part in creating the mountain biking trails in Waterbury and Stowe. We also played an integral role in founding the Stowe Mountain Bike Club to ensure that trails would be built sustainable and on legal property.
In 2005, I left Irie Cycles to work for my family’s business as an electrician. My love for two-wheels lived on, motorized and non-motorized. In June of 2009 I was re-hired at the Trapp Family Lodge to manage the mountain bike operations in the summer and the Ski rental shop in the winter. Together with the awesome team here at the Trapp Family Lodge, I hope to teach you the skills I have obtained in my 19 years of single-track experience!

Katie Falconer
Hello, my name is Katie Falconer. I move around a lot, but am currently settled in Morrisville with my dog and pet pot-bellied pig. I have been living in Vermont for 20 years (more than half my life!). After graduating from Johnson State College, I was introduced to organic vegetable farming and pursued that for about eight years. When I discovered mountain biking, I phased out of farming and in to waiting tables, allowing a lot more time and energy for riding! I have been helping and teaching girls and women to ride and gain confidence on mountain bikes for eight years. The two seasons that this program has been at the Trapp Family Lodge we have gotten all types of adventuresome and curious people out on in the woods and on the mountain bike trails. I bring patience and laughter, and I love being able to ride my bike at work. I have passion and expertise in health, nutrition, yoga, herbs and all living things. I am also certified in Wilderness First Aid/CPR.
Where can you find me? I can be found teaching lessons, out on the trails, in the bike shop, out in the field, and just out and about!

Josh Matta
Hi, I am Trapp’s Family Bike Shop resident Single Speeder and their newest bike technician, Josh Matta. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and got my start riding bike as a kid with dirt jumping and racing BMX at South Park in Pennsylvania. I also enjoyed epic rail trail trips along the Great Allegheny Passage Trail with my family. Skiing brought me back to biking for the cross training in a newfound form as a trail rider and Cross Country/Endurance Racer. I moved to Stowe for the skiing, and in my opinion it is one of the best ski and bike communities on the East Coast.
I can be found while at the Trapp Family Lodge’s bike shop keeping our large rental fleet cleaned, tuned and ready to run and doing repairs on customer’s bikes. When not on the clock I can be found exploring Stowe’s singletrack or eating copious amounts of pasta and ice cream.
Mr. Briggs
Hello, my name is Briggs Pierce, although in the Bike Shop you would quickly find out that I’ve been given the nickname ‘Mr. Briggs', one I received the first year I worked here at the Trapp Family Lodge.
I’m 16 years old and was born at the foot of Mount Mansfield in my home on the Mountain Road here in Stowe VT, in the summer of ’94. Growing up in Stowe I spent plenty winters cross country skiing at the Trapp Family Lodge, and during some of my first summer and fall seasons my father sat me on a small hand-me-down mountain bike and rolled me down a hill until I got the hang of things. I currently live here in Stowe with my parents and 12-year-old brother Story, and I attend Stowe High School. Over the course of my 16 years here in this town, I’ve had tons of fun doing a good amount of mountain biking, cross country skiing, and cross country running, as well as contributing as much as I can to the arts by making music and creating artwork.
In the summer of 2009 I was in need of a job, and Dana Jourdan hired me to work in Trapp Family Lodge’s brand new bike shop. Now a days I’m part of the bike shop team and I’m learning as much as I can from my mentors Dana, Katie, and Kyle about this amazing two-wheeled sport. My job title in the Bike Shop is most definitely “Bike Appearance Specialist,” meaning… you’ll probably see me cleaning bikes, and also happily renting them.
