STOWE — The NCAA Skiing Championships will begin with a double dose of events Wednesday.
With bad weather expected later in the week, the schedule for the opening day of the four-day competition has been adjusted to feature giant slalom and freestyle Nordic events.
Alpine competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Stowe Mountain Resort with the first of two women’s GS runs. The men’s GS starts at 1 p.m.
The Nordic races are at Trapp Family Lodge, with the men’s 10-kilometer freestyle starting at 10 a.m. and the women’s 5K getting under way at noon.
The adjustments mean there will be no events Thursday. Barring other changes, competition will end as scheduled with Nordic classic events Friday and Alpine slalom races Saturday.
The University of Vermont, seeking its first NCAA title since 1994, is the host team for the competition.
