They will be joined by food writer Rowan Jacobsen, author of A Geography of Oysters and American Terroir, who will be hosting an oyster sampling paired with complementary wines on Saturday evening. Discover how the flavors of various oysters can be enhanced with the right wine. Jacobsen is a two-time James Beard Award winner, has received the AICP Award and the Green Prize in Sustainable Literature.
While the weekend’s activities will include wines from around the world, this year’s featured winery at the Saturday nigh Gala Dinner is Arcadian Winery of Solvang California. Owner/winemaker Joseph Davis will be on hand to discuss his wines. Inspired by the great traditions of Burgundian winemaking, Davis has been making Arcadian Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah in California’s Central Coast region since 1996.
The Stowe Wine and Food Classic kicks off the evening of June 24 with an intimate Wine Tasting held at the West Branch Gallery and Sculpture Park.
On Saturday participants will enjoy an exclusive opportunity to meet Arcadian Winery vintner Joe Davis who will share wines from his private collection. The wines will be coupled with an unforgettable dinner featuring the exquisite cuisine of Trapp Family Lodge’s executive chef Brian Tomlinson. During the evening, guests will have the opportunity to bid on prized and collectible wines as well as one-of-a-kind items.
Sunday’s Grand Tasting is a cornucopia of tastes and experiences with more than 100 wines from the leading producing regions of the world along with delicious foods from the area’s celebrated chefs. As a unique attraction, the event will feature a Vermont Pavilion which will showcase some of the best culinary gems the State has to offer.
Sunday will also include a Culinary Theatre featuring wine seminars, including seminars with Joe Davis and David O’Reilly of Owen Roe Winery, and cooking demonstrations by Coombs and Kovel.
