The first annual Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum Epic summer event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center.
“This is a great new event for the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum. It highlights the terrain that makes Vermont unique, but more importantly the community of businesses, volunteers and supporters needed to keep the museum thriving,” said Tom Sequist, board chairman.
“This event has something for everyone, from the most experienced cyclist to those new to the sport,” said Brian Irwin, event promoter. “My goal is that everyone leaves the event having had a great time while raising money for a great place, the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum,”
The course will run through the famed fire roads, double track and single track on the Trapp Family Lodge property. The barbecue will be at the Trapp's Deli/Bakery.
Individual events include: a 40K Mountain Bike Race (two laps of a 20K loop); a 40K Mountain Bike Relay (one lap each of a 20K loop); a 20K or 40K “Epic” ride/tour (one or two laps of a 20K loop); and a 10K Trail Running Race (two laps of a 5K loop).
Each registrant will receive a commemorative hat, admission to a post-race barbeque at 1:15 p.m., and discounted admission to the “Beach House on the Mountain Festival,” Aug. 5-6, at the Town & Country Resort in Stowe (www.beachhouseonthemountain.com).
Event awards will take place at 2:30 p.m.
The entry fees are $40 for the Mountain Bike Race, $30 per person for the “Epic” Ride/Tour and Mountain Bike Relay, and $20 for the Trail Run.
Registration is available at www.bikereg.com and www.runreg.com. All participants will be required to sign a release of liability the day of the event. Minors will need a parent or guardian to sign the release.
