We open up the news vault to remember a big celebration in Stowe 28 years ago — a family made famous for their musical talents were alive with the sound of hammers, nails and paint brushes with the focus on the finishing touches at the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe. The austrian style lodge with 93 rooms was opening its' doors for the holiday season in 1983, and today 28 years later the facilities offers more than 200 residences on site. Including biking trails, tennis courts, sleigh rides and maple syrup services. 4 years after the grand opening the famous Maria Von Trapp passed away, she is memorialized at the lodge in Stowe.
