Stowe High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance has received a $1,000 donation from the organizers of Winter Rendezvous, a gay and lesbian ski event that attracts hundreds of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered skiers and riders to Stowe every year.

The alliance was founded by Josh Trowbridge and Talia Govoni, who graduated last June. The communications director is Jacqueline Nuzzo, and the co-presidents are Genny Mask and Allie Schaal.

“A contribution of this size will provide a solid foundation to move forward with (the alliance’s) endeavors,” Nuzzo said. “This is a great opportunity to inform residents and business owners and ask for their continued support as Stowe High School builds awareness for the LGBT community.”

The Winter Rendezvous is planned Wednesday to Sunday, Jan. 23-26, at Stowe Mountain Resort. Its official host hotel is the Stoweflake Resort and Spa and its official Nordic Center is Trapp Family Lodge. Information: winterrendezvous.com.
