The Stowe Trail Race Series finished the season in grand style with the fifth running of the Trapp Cabin Trail Race. Hosted by Trapp Family Lodge, more than 60 runners participated, despite the somewhat damp beginning to the day.

This year saw the introduction of new routes that took advantage of the single-track mountain biking trails in addition to the traditional cross-country trails at the Trapps Biking Center.

Ryan Kerrigan of Moretown had the fastest time on the new 10K course, finishing in 42:59.7. The women’s champion was Robyn Anderson of Stowe with a time of 48:56.4.

Laying claim to the Master’s titles were Charlotte Brynn of Stowe, with a time of 52:47.5, and Clifford Borden, also of Stowe, with a time of 54:58.7. All first-place winners went home with a pair of Pearl Izumi running shoes and happy smiles.

Heidi Brynn (13th) and Kenan Griffith (eighth), both of Stowe, claimed the honors in the youth division with times of 1:05.25 and 1:23:32 respectively.

The overall winners of the 5K were Peter Davis of Underhill with a time of 30:00.2 and Jenn Carson of Jericho with a time of 31:27.9. Winners of the youth division were Eliza Cabot (seventh) of Stowe and Cormac Leahy (eighth) of Greensboro with times of 55:10.4 and 35:07.9 respectively. Leahy finished third overall.

All proceeds from the Stowe Trail Race Series go to support Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports’ Scholarship Program.
