Sound of Music Story

What’s your best Sound of Music memory or moment?
The first time you saw it? The 13th time you saw it? The time when you saw it with your girlfriend or boyfriend and it turned out to be their favorite film?

We want to hear about it, from the serious and sublime to the silly or crazy. The real von Trapps (yup, we do exist) are offering prizes: “Maria – My Own Story”  Maria’s autobiography or “The World of the Trapp Family” by William Anderson to the top five stories. As a special treat, members of the von Trapp family will sign and dedicate the book personally to you.

In the third week of June five actors who played the von Trapp children in the movie The Sound of Music will reunite at the Trapp
Family Lodge for a tree planting ceremony. Duane Chase, the actor who portrayed the second son (Kurt in the movie, Werner in real life) will
lead the delegation in dedicating an apple tree near the von Trapp family cemetery. The tree was planted a year ago in memory of Werner,
who died on October 11th, 2007. The group will also present a plaque to Werner's wife Erika, and to
his sister Maria, one of two survivors from the seven children portrayed in the movie. The plaque expresses thanks from the movie
children to the real von Trapp children, for making their movie roles possible, and for the lasting friendships that grew out of
that experience. The tree planting is scheduled for the afternoon of June 17th, at 4pm.
