Your Guide to Stowe, VT

Stowe, Vermont is a lovely 200-year-old destination with a quaint downtown area full of shops and restaurants that offer views of the surrounding mountains. Visitors to Stowe can enjoy outdoor recreation year-round, as well as cultural activities and attractions, family fun, and exciting events. We also provide a variety of tours and activities here on property as well, many of which are included with our resort fee. If you are not staying with, you may visit the property by purchasing a Trail pass or purchase tickets to any of our tours or activities below.


Nestled in the mountains overlooking the village of Stowe, the Trapp Family Lodge offers an abundance of charm and whimsy in our Austrian-style alpine lodge. Just a short drive to downtown Stowe, our resort is close to a variety of Stowe and Waterbury attractions like Green Mountain Coffee Visitor’s Center and the Ben & Jerry’s Factory. We also provide an abundance of tours and activities that are included with your resort fee or for a charge if staying in the area. 


An Ice Cream Lover’s Dream

Families visiting Stowe can enjoy an easy 20-minute drive from Trapp Family Lodge to the Ben & Jerry’s Factory in Waterbury, Vermont. A tour of this ice cream factory includes a “moo-vie” telling the history of the company—how two childhood friends turned a five-dollar correspondence course on ice cream making into an internationally successful business. The tour also includes a view of the manufacturing floor where the creamy goodness is made and a visit to the FlavoRoom to sample the flavor of the day.

Culture & the Arts near Trapp Family Lodge

Stowe has a variety of cultural activities and attractions for your enjoyment. Spend a relaxing afternoon strolling through museums like the Vermont Ski & Snowboard Museum and the museum in the Stowe Historical Society. Art lovers and those interested in adding to their collection can browse the Vermont Fine Art Gallery and Inside Out Gallery.

Visitors can also enjoy performing arts in Stowe and the surrounding areas. In the summer, the Stowe Performing Arts features world-class performances, and throughout the year, the Lamoille County Players, Waterbury Festival Players, Stowe Theatre Guild, and Stowe Peak Performing Arts Center deliver rousing concert and theatrical performances.
