North America's First Nordic Ski Center

Trapp Family Lodge is home to North America's first cross-country Nordic ski center. The famed von Trapp family settled in Vermont after touring the United States as the Trapp Family Singers. On their Stowe mountaintop the family worked and farmed the fields, opened a music camp & Lodge, and soon began renting Nordic skis and snowshoes while blazing scenic and tranquil trails through the property in the late '60s. Since then, the family has continued to develop the trail network, preserve the natural beauty of the land, and welcome guests to experience a range of outdoor recreational activities. Explore 37 miles of groomed trails for Nordic skiing, and 62 miles of backcountry trails with routes for all levels and abilities.
The Outdoor Center has passes, rental equipment, maps & recommendations. If you need an extra hand getting started, take an individual or small group lesson with one of our expert Nordic instructors!
